🌧️ Dry Carts, Smart Travel, & What’s Really Happening in Middleton

Plus: Live Music and Weekend Events!

Good morning, Villagers. Turns out we like our golf carts the same way we like our lives—safe, comfortable, and drama-free. Today’s issue has poll results you’ll nod along with, a quick travel trick that saves real money, and a full slate of things to do around town. Let’s get into it.

📅 On this day in 1973, the first handheld mobile phone call was placed. It weighed nearly 2½ pounds. Meanwhile, today we’re arguing over self canceling turn signals on golf carts—progress comes in many forms.

Monday’s Poll Recap

🛺 Poll Recap: The Cart Upgrades Villagers Swear By

This one was a photo finish. Out of 505 votes, two upgrades dominated:

🚦 Self-Canceling Turn Signals (163)
🌧️ Golf Cart Enclosures (160)

Translation? Safety and comfort beat everything else.

Turn signals edged out the win, and reader comments backed it up — better visibility, less confusion at busy crossings, and no more driving half the day with a blinker on.

Enclosures were right behind. Cold mornings, sudden rain, and winter wind make this a no-brainer. As one reader put it: “Arriving dry is underrated.”

🪑 Upgraded bucket seats (88 votes) grabbed third place. Armrests, adjustability, and back support matter more than most people admit — especially on longer rides.

💡 LED lights and 📺 cart computer screens came in lower. Useful upgrades, but clearly not must-haves compared to staying warm, dry, and visible.

Bottom line: Villagers upgrade carts the same way they live — practical first, flashy later.

Thanks for voting and keep those poll ideas coming — hit reply if you’ve got a fun one!

You can upgrade and accessorize your golf cart on the cheap, instead of paying up at the dealer. LED Headlights and tail lights are a relatively easy and inexpensive upgrade for night driving safety. You can get the one pictured on Amazon for just over $125.

🏘️ Middleton: The Family-Focused Community Taking Shape Next to The Villages

If you’ve ever wondered how Middleton fits into the bigger Villages picture, this aerial tour is worth a few minutes of your time. The video gives a clear, ground-truth look at this family-focused community tucked just outside The Villages—its homes, schools, parks, growing downtown, and how it connects to Eastport and what’s coming next. It’s part explainer, part progress report, and it answers the “what exactly is happening over there?” question a lot of readers keep asking.

Pulse Travel

✈️ Pulse Travel Hack: Book Refundable, Then Stalk Prices

Hotel rates bounce around constantly. The smart move: book a refundable room as soon as your plans are solid, then keep checking prices. When the rate drops, cancel and rebook—same hotel, lower price, no penalty.

I do this all the time, whether I’m paying cash or using points—especially with Marriott bookings. Points rates fluctuate just like cash, and rebooking can stretch your points way further.

Lock it in early. Let the price drops do the work. 💳🏨

A Marriott Card Offer Worth a Look

Earn 5 free hotel nights after spending $3,000 in 3 months. Each night is worth up to 50,000 Marriott points—that’s up to 250,000 points total if used well.

You’ll also get up to $100 in airline credits, which helps cover real travel costs right away.

⭐ Ongoing Perks

  • 1 free night every year (up to 35,000 points) — often worth more than the annual fee

  • Automatic Marriott Silver Elite status — 10% bonus points and late checkout when available
