😴 Sleep poll results, bagels, and Villages Battle of the Bands

Plus two golf courses back open, live music all weekend, and a new steakhouse

Good morning Villagers, the bagel lines are long, the bands are ready, and half of us are apparently awake to read this at 3am anyway. ☕ Let's get into it.

On this date in 1975 — The Fall of Saigon marked the end of the Vietnam War as the last U.S. personnel were evacuated by helicopter. Many of you lived through that chapter of history firsthand. A day worth remembering. 🙏

Monday’s Poll Recap

😴 The Villages Has a Sleep Problem — And You're Not Alone

606 votes came in, and the verdict is clear: solid sleep is harder to come by than a parking spot at Lake Sumter Landing on a Saturday night.

🟢 "Hit or miss" wins with 244 votes — nearly half of you are rolling the dice every night
🟡 194 say they're sleeping great — we see you, and we're mildly jealous
😬 99 are up at 3am like clockwork — right on schedule, for no good reason
🛌 44 swear by the nap strategy — honestly, not a bad game plan
😵 25 of you: "What's sleep?" — we feel this deeply

But the reader comments are where it gets real…

👉 The 3am club is massive — one reader lobbied for a 3am coffee shop in The Villages, and honestly? There's a market for it.
👉 The brain won't clock out — multiple readers said the mind starts planning the next day the second their eyes open. Retirement didn't fix that.
👉 Sleep meds aren't always the answer — one reader noted broken sleep even with medication. Several mentioned the frustration of not sleeping solidly in years.
👉 Stress is a real factor — from world events to that "8 months until I retire" countdown, anxious minds make for restless nights.
👉 The exception that proves the rule — one reader sleeps 8–9 hours and doesn't even get up at night. Their secret? A Sleep Number bed. (Somebody's getting a good commission somewhere.)

The good news? You're far from alone — and there are real, practical ways to improve your sleep. We’ll be diving into this topic in an upcoming series, covering what’s really behind those 3am wakeups and simple, effective habits that can help you finally get the rest you’ve been missing. Stay tuned. 😴

🎟️ AI for Everyday Life

Use AI to Build a Mobility Plan for Golf After 55

One of the biggest advantages of using AI in everyday life is this: it takes something you know you should do… and turns it into something you can actually follow. That’s when to use it — when you’re stuck, unsure where to start, or tired of piecing things together from multiple sources.

Mobility for golf is a perfect example. Most people know flexibility matters, but figuring out the right routine based on your age, your body, and your goals is where it usually falls apart. This is where AI shines. You can ask it to build a simple, structured plan tailored to you in seconds.

Use a prompt like: “Create a weekly mobility plan for a 65 year-old golfer. Focus on hips, shoulders, and rotation. Keep it beginner-friendly and under 15 minutes per day.” Then refine it by adding context: “Adjust this for mild lower back stiffness,” “Focus more on improving swing rotation,” or “Explain each exercise in simple terms.”

Now you’re not guessing. You’ve got a clear, personalized plan you can actually follow. That’s the real advantage of AI — not replacing experts, but helping you get organized faster and take action.

Better mobility leads to a smoother swing, more effortless distance, and less strain on your body. And when the plan is simple and tailored, you’re far more likely to stick with it.
