But the numbers only tell part of the story. The comments were rich — and the divide is real.

👉 The North vs. South split is the subplot nobody expected — multiple readers said they feel zero connection to everything south of 44, and at least one reader put it bluntly: "30+ roundabouts to get to the new section"

👉 Infrastructure can't keep up — traffic, overcrowded pools, no parking at Lake Sumter Landing, and squares that feel like a theme park on weekends

👉 The golf cart promise feels broken — several longtime residents noted they were told you'd always be able to cart from one end to the other. That's not The Villages anymore.

👉 Newer builds are drawing scrutiny — one reader flagged shorter driveways, smaller yards, minimal molding, no ceiling fans. "I feel bad for folks in Eastport," they wrote.

👉 But the other side showed up too — south-enders who said growth can't come fast enough for them, newcomers drinking the Kool-Aid with zero regrets, and pragmatists who pointed out: "Everyone of us was an addition that contributed to the growth."

Bottom line: This community isn't just growing — it's splitting into chapters. North vs. South. Old-timers vs. newcomers. Golf-cart nostalgia vs. new town square energy. The Villages is no longer one thing. Whether that's a problem or a feature depends entirely on which zip code you're in.
