Monday’s Poll Results

Where Villagers Actually Buy Their Golf Carts

You didn’t hold back. We got 472 responses, and the results were decisive—one dealer dominates, but a strong #2—and a huge wave of “Other” votes that were mostly private sales and a couple of popular independents.

By the numbers (share of 472 votes):

  • The Villages Golf Cars: 48.7%

  • Village Discount Golf Car (2 locations): 14.4%

  • Botero Carts (Ocala): 3.6%

  • Cart World Golf Cars (Lady Lake): 1.7%

  • Carts 4 Less (Fruitland Park): 1.5%

  • Village Elite Golf Cars: 1.5%

  • Other (write-ins/private sales): 28.6%
    • Top “Other” mentions from your comments: Private sale (lots of estate/neighbor deals), Hidden Creek (actually 3.8% of vote, so the number 3 dealer), and Carts & Clubs (Ocala).

No surprise that The Villages Golf Cars was half the count, it’s very clear that convenience beats out price, and many readers told us their quality of service is excellent. #2 Village Discount Golf Car had a lot of great comments for their fair pricing and their service. Quite a few mentioned Wholesale Golf Carts, and I agree, having bought two from them, their service and pricing is top notch.

Screening Spotlight Poll Recap

Have You Had Carotid Artery Screening Poll

Monday, we asked, you answered—and the results were evenly split. Out of 102 Villagers who voted, the poll shows both strong participation and a clear interest in preventive health.

By the numbers:

  • ✅ Yes, had the screening: 42.2% (43 votes)

  • ⏳ No, but I will/should: 42.2% (43 votes)

  • 🚫 No, I don’t want/need it: 12.7% (13 votes)

  • ❓ Other: 2.9% (3 votes)

From your comments:
One reader dismissed the test as a “waste of money” because of upsells (clearly it’s not—as Cliff’s story shows below! But yes, they may try to upsell you on extra tests, which you can simply decline during registration). Others mentioned waiting until Medicare covers it or until their doctor recommends it (spoiler: they rarely do).

The most powerful response came from reader Cliff, who shared:

❝

“Just had it done. Got a call today that I had irregular blood flow. Waiting for a call from a vascular specialist.”

That’s exactly the kind of early detection these screenings are designed for!

My fiancée and I went ahead and booked the September 22 screening at the Hampton Inn on 466 (the Oxford date didn’t fit our schedule). If you’re still considering a screening, you can find more dates, locations, and times here:

Takeaway: Whether you’ve had it or are considering it, carotid artery screening clearly matters to our community. Stay tuned—we’ll keep bringing you resources on preventive health options that could make a difference, like it did for Cliff.
