The Championship Courses of The Villages

A Villages Pulse Multi-Part Feature Series

Chapter 6 – Havana Nights & Hacienda Days: The Golden Era of Clubs

As development surged through the 2000s, championship golf kept pace. Hacienda Hills provided a classic Villages challenge with tighter fairways and rolling terrain. Its clubhouse became a northern staple. Then came Havana Country Club in 2007, with 27 holes carved around wetlands and live oaks. The Havana clubhouse — with its Cuban-inspired menu and lively bar — quickly became a favorite gathering spot.

The formula was now perfected: each championship course offered not just golf, but a clubhouse restaurant with its own theme, from tropical vibes to Spanish flair. Residents didn’t just pick a favorite course — they picked a favorite hangout.

By the end of the decade, The Villages had created something extraordinary: a system where golf was accessible, yet still aspirational. For many Villagers, golf became less about scorecards and more about belonging.

Fun Fact: Havana’s opening night party included live Latin music and dancing — many say it set the tone for the club’s festive atmosphere.

Florida water doesn’t have to smell like a swimming pool.

Tired of hard water stains and that chlorine smell? Nova Filters, a family- and veteran-owned company run by a Villager, is the go-to choice for cleaner, fresher water in thousands of local homes—including many Villages Pulse readers.

I had my Nova 3-stage whole house filter installed two months ago and absolutely love the difference! My water tastes clean, smells fresh, and feels so much better on my skin. I’ve received so much positive feedback from Pulse readers who also took advantage of the deal back in July!

Their whole house filters, water softeners, and reverse osmosis systems make every tap taste like bottled water. With free professional installation, transparent pricing online, and a perfect 5.0 Google rating, it’s no wonder customers rave about them.

🩺 Screening Spotlight

Sponsored By Life Line Screening

Villages Pulse Reader Elizabeth shared this with me recently: I did not see your poll on carotid artery screening but everyone should do it. I did and it saved my life. I had 97% blockage. Just saying it can make all difference. That was in 2013!!!

Mammogram: Still Key for Women’s Health

Early detection saves lives

A mammogram uses low-dose X-rays to spot breast cancer early, often before a lump can be felt. Caught early, breast cancer treatment is more effective and less invasive.

✅ Who should consider it: Women 40–74, earlier if high risk (family history, genetic mutations).

👉 Where/Who/Prescription: Available at hospitals, imaging centers, and women’s health clinics. Usually requires a doctor’s order for insurance coverage.

💡 Takeaway: Don’t skip it—early detection changes outcomes.
